About Whitman County
Whitman County is seeking a dedicated and skilled Public Safety Radio System Technician to join our Emergency Management team in Colfax, WA. As a cornerstone of public safety communications, Whitman County is committed to ensuring reliable and effective communication systems for our local agencies and first responders. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational maintenance, installation, programming, and performance of public safety communications systems. You will support the County’s VHF simulcast radio system, microwave network, dispatch systems, and subscriber equipment, including both mobile and portable radios. Your expertise will help ensure that public safety agencies throughout Whitman County have the reliable communications they need to serve and protect our community.
Key responsibilities include radio programming, fleet management, subscriber unit installation, and providing end-user support. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of relevant work experience in the construction and maintenance of electronic control and communications equipment, or an associate’s degree in Electrical Communications, Engineering, or Communications Technologies with five years of related experience. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a criminal background check are required.
Whitman County offers a competitive wage range of $39.28 to $46.94 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
