Managing Attorney Job Opportunity – Lapwai, ID

The Nez Perce Tribe, headquartered in Lapwai, Idaho, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Managing Attorney to join its Office of Legal Counsel. This is a unique opportunity to work with a respected tribal government, providing a full range of legal services that support the Nez Perce Tribe’s mission, sovereignty, and community well-being. As the Managing Attorney, you will lead a team of five staff attorneys and three support staff, overseeing executive-level management, supervising personnel, budgeting, and serving as a liaison to tribal departments and outside agencies.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of legal experience, preferably with Indian law, and a proven track record in executive management. You should be comfortable handling litigation, transactional negotiations, project management, and strategic planning. Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to analyze complex legal and policy issues and provide prompt, accurate analysis on a daily basis.
