About Whitman County
Are you looking for a rewarding summer job where you can make a tangible difference in your community and enjoy the great outdoors? Whitman County is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Litter Crew team this summer in Colfax, WA. As part of our temporary crew, you’ll be responsible for the important work of keeping county roadsides clean and beautiful by removing litter throughout various locations across Whitman County. This opportunity is perfect for those who don’t mind getting their hands dirty and are willing to work in all types of weather, contributing directly to the safety and visual appeal of our public spaces.
Reporting to the Whitman County Solid Waste Transfer Station on Carothers Road, you’ll need to be ready for a physically active job – expect to walk between 3 and 10 miles daily, gather and carry bags of trash, and work safely in environments with moving traffic, pollen, insects, and rodents. We ask that you provide your own work boots and adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of required safety equipment. Beyond gaining hands-on experience and valuable workplace skills, temporary employees working 80 hours or more per month also qualify for excellent benefits: employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 40 hours worked), and basic life insurance coverage.
Whitman County values diversity, inclusion, and a positive work environment. We are committed to safety and providing meaningful temporary employment that helps our community thrive. If you’re looking for a role where your efforts truly matter and want to be part of a supportive county team, we look forward to your application. Visit our website for full descriptions and to apply today, or give us a call with any questions. Start your summer with a job that makes a difference and gives you skills for the future!
