As the County Planner, you will be responsible for conducting research and providing recommendations for both long- and short-range development projects. Your work will involve close collaboration with the Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, public agencies, and other stakeholders. The role requires attendance at evening meetings and offers the chance to make a tangible impact on the community’s growth and quality of life.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and updating planning ordinances, comprehensive plans, and special projects, as well as administering land use regulations such as plan amendments, rezones, and site plan reviews. You will play a vital role in enforcing zoning codes and ensuring that all planning activities align with county policies and regulations. The position offers considerable latitude for independent judgment, making it ideal for professionals who thrive in roles that require both analytical thinking and creative problem-solving.
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in planning or a closely related field, along with at least two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a combination of education, experience, or training that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills will be considered.
